Pigeon stew in a miracle pot

Pigeon stew in a miracle pot

Peel an onion, chop it and put it on the bottom of the pot, add the pigeons, salt, pepper, water, put the lid on and cook under pressure for about an hour, depending on how old or young the pigeons are. Turn off the heat and allow to cool.

I'm a real delicacy. Have fun, dear ones!

Advantages of using a pressure cooker

Try to provide your family with a warm meal, prepared at home from quality ingredients. Dinner is the time when everyone gathers at the table and discusses the events of the day. Take advantage of these moments by enjoying a family meal.

Reduces food preparation time

In a closed pot, the boiling point of water increases in direct proportion to the pressure. This will make the food boil much faster. It is ideal to have pork & # 8211 boiled beef in 40-50 minutes, and dried vegetables in 30 minutes. Fancy a bean soup or smoked ciola? The pressure cooker can help you prepare the food you want in a shorter time.

Save time and energy

Because it is no longer necessary to cook food for hours on end, we will also save energy. I'm not even talking about time, it's limited. While the food is boiling we can take care of the children or other household chores.

No steam and no smell in the house

I think this is a great advantage. Steam no longer heats the house unnecessarily. The smell no longer spreads throughout the house. Hot steam damages furniture and walls over time if ventilation is not adequate. That hot greased steam settles on objects and is so hard to remove.

Food retains its nutritional value

By boiling in a pressure cooker, the food retains its nutritional value better. And it is a very important aspect if we value a healthy diet and tasty dishes.

The best bread in a pressure cooker (Tefal One Pot)

One of the best bread recipes I've ever made is without a doubt the bread baked in the pot.

But since this miracle of the electric pot called Tefal One Pot appeared in my life, I have tried my luck to see how my wonderful bread comes out. Not the other way around, but it has some benefits that the oven does not have:

  • don't stare at her in the oven anymore, you know exactly how well she should fare
  • when the program ends it automatically enters the "keep warm" option, while the one in the oven must be removed immediately otherwise you risk frying too much on top
  • if you don't have the right amount of flour for the oven, the bread may not rise enough
  • and last but not least, from my children's reading: this bread is much tastier than the one from the oven!

And from my perspective, whatever you cook at Tefal One Pot gives you the feeling of freedom in the kitchen because you let it work there and you take care of other things.

Now, back to the bread. The recipe is identical to the one in my previous article, but I rewrite it here.

Ingredients (for a loaf of bread):

  • 500 gr flour
  • a packet of dry yeast or 25 g fresh
  • 1 teaspoon grated salt
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 300 & # 8211 350 ml lukewarm water (not hot)
  • Put the flour in a large enough bowl, mix the salt, and then add the yeast and honey. If you have fresh yeast, it should be dissolved with a little lukewarm water, half a teaspoon of sugar and a little flour. Allow to rise for 15 minutes.
  • Mix with a wooden spoon and add water, and mix until a fairly soft dough is formed. Until I start kneading with my hands, to feel the dough, I'm not completely happy.
  • Cover the basin with plastic wrap for one hour. You can raise the dough directly in the pot from Tefal One Pot.
  • When 50 minutes have elapsed, turn on the appliance on the "bake" program for 50 minutes, without the actual pot, just on the element to heat up.
  • When the appliance tells us that it has warmed up, we add the pot with the bread. Don't forget to remove the plastic wrap, right?
  • Close the lid, be careful, but in this program the lid does not lock, it just closes.
  • After the 50 minutes have elapsed, open the pot and the bread will be ready but very white on top because the heat only comes from below. Here, you have two options:
    • or leave it like that,
    • or, turn it over and leave it for another 10 minutes in the "bake" program.

I chose the second option and it came out flatter than normal, but extremely, extremely good!

Leave it as airy as you can and eat it, preferably in the family, with everything you want. It goes with absolutely anything, especially butter!

Before the first use of the pressure cooker, remove all labels, wash the pot, lid and gasket with detergent, then rinse and dry. Fill the pot halfway with water only and boil it under pressure for half an hour to remove odors or other impurities.

It is important to check the safety and pressure valves so that they are not blocked. If any of these are blocked, clean the valve with a sharp object (a needle, for example). When closing the lid, don't forget to lightly press the handle.

To use the pressure cooker correctly, it is important not to fill it with more than 2/3 of its capacity. In the case of preparing foaming foods, the liquid in the pot must not exceed a quarter of its capacity.

The pressure cooker is not intended for cooking fries in a lot of oil or fat and in no case for baking.

When eating vegetables and soups, avoid total evaporation of liquids.

Never use a pressure cooker without adding water
or other liquids, as it may fail more quickly.

Cooking in a pressure cooker should always be done on a flat surface. Also, the flame from the stove must be set in such a way that it does not exceed the base of the pot.

As for the cooking time, it must be calculated from the moment the pressure relief valve is raised until the fire is stopped.

When you want to open it, do not force the lid of the pot. It does not rise until the internal pressure has dropped.

    Neck stew

I'm not a big fan of pork neck, but I don't get shy in front of a juicy piece, on the contrary, I become bold, I get ideas, I make plans and I quickly take action. So yesterday:

I cut the meat into thick slices and put it in my cast iron pot.

I put the chopped vegetables over the meat, covered with water and a cup of wine and put the pot on the fire, with the lid on top. After an hour on low heat, I seasoned the stew with salt and pepper, I added a sprig of thyme and I left the stew for half an hour on the fire, without a lid.

Instructions for the pressure cooker: how to use. Frequently asked questions

"How do I use a pressure cooker?" is one of the most common questions asked by people who want to cook fast and healthy. Well, in order to put it into operation, it is vital to be absolutely sure that it has no cracks or notches and that its condition is intact. It is advisable to do this even if you remove a new device from the sealed box, as some may be damaged due to storage or transport.

Such a defective object can release hot steam, which can hurt you. Also, make sure that you remove food scraps and any stains with special cleaning products before starting the cooking process.

After checking these steps, it is not enough just to put the food in the pot sieve and start it. There must be liquid inside it, and water is best. Do not fill the vessel with more than two-thirds of water, as space is required for steam to form. Remember, you should always make sure that you have locked the lid before turning on the stove or hob.

When the food starts to boil, the pressure cooker on the pot will start to whistle. This means that the pot has overheated and, at this time, it is recommended to reduce the flame, because it is enough just to pee during cooking.

Be careful, though! Whatever the reason, the lid of the cooking pot should not be removed while there is pressure inside the pot. Do not try to open it forcibly, because it is dangerous: the steam can cause burns, and the liquid inside will come to the surface. The recommendation of specialists is to remove it from the eye of the stove and wait for it to cool.

If you still have questions, the answer to the following questions may be helpful:

    Can a pressure cooker explode?

As long as you follow the manufacturers' instructions and don't open the pressure cooker when it does its magic, you don't have to worry. Modern models of these vessels are designed to be safe.

Does the food lose its taste?

Contrary to the belief that longer cooking time leads to a tastier result, cooking with such a pot has its merits. The pressure retains more flavor than traditional methods, so the dishes are even more delicious.

How do you release steam after cooking?

You can do this by slowing down, gradually turning the program selector to the steam position or by the fast method. In the case of the second, it is advisable to put the pressure cooker under the water jet, which you can direct towards the metal part of the lid. This procedure is recommended if you have cooked soups, rice, pasta or anything that contains a lot of liquid.

What can't you cook in a pressure cooker?

Due to the presence of water, all foods are steamed, which means you can't make anything fried or baked. Make sure you brown the onions and meat before putting them in the pot.

How can I adapt a recipe to prepare it for this dish?

There are two rules when you want to prepare standard recipes with the help of a pressure cooker. The first is to use less cooking liquid, as it does not evaporate, and the second rule is to reduce the cooking time by about two-thirds. If the dish is not completely cooked, you can use the dish for a few more minutes.

The pressure cooker no longer works. What happened?

To condense, the pot must be completely sealed and keep steam inside. Check that the rubber ring is not damaged and make sure that you have added the minimum amount of water recommended by the manufacturer. If this does not work, make sure the pressure valve is not blocked.

Wonder pot or how to cook in 10 minutes

I could talk to you about One Pot from Tefal for about 30 minutes. Minimum.

I bought this pot miracle after spending about 3 nights in a row looking for reviews and opinions about other pots in the same category.

I chose to take One Pot for two main reasons:

    1. the acceptable price of 350 lei
    2. he did exactly what I needed to do: cook and keep the food warm while I took care of other things.

And now let's take them one at a time. The cost fully justifies the value of the product, so after almost 3 months of use I have no regrets for purchasing it.

The principle on which such an acquisition is based is that of the pressure cooker, that is, it considerably reduces cooking times. You want chicken legs, they're ready in 20 minutes. You want tender old beef for up to 40 minutes. And the ultimate gain is that you don't have to sit next to her, she does her job alone.

That's about it in a nutshell.

Now, in concrete terms, let me give you the appropriate details:

    1. There are dishes where you put all the ingredients in the pot and leave home. When you return, the food is ready. Such recipes can be: chicken legs with peas / potatoes, steamed fish with vegetables, rice / rice with milk, beef with vegetables, practically, almost everything related to the large area of dishes with sauce.
    2. There are dishes that require 2 or 3 steps to be prepared, such as chicken soup (I said the recipe in the video), bean stew. You can't put them all in the pot and leave home because when you return you will have half a recipe made and you will stay hungry.
    3. The set time is not the actual time until the food is ready. The device needs time to reach the set temperature, time unknown but which from experience can vary between 10-25 minutes, maybe even 30, which adds to the actual time of the recipe. If the beef is done in 40 minutes, it will actually be ready in 60 or 70. To reduce the heating time of the appliance it is preferable to use warm liquids.
    4. It is important to place the pot under a hood. It removes a lot of steam and can damage your furniture.
    5. Be very careful not to use it without the main pot, ie to pour liquids into the electric tank because it will almost certainly break. The service is somewhere in the Vatra Luminoasă area, and the gentlemen are nice. I told in the video how I managed to pour soup over the resistance.
    6. The cooking pot is only washed by hand, not in the washing machine, but it is made of a material that is very easy to clean, so it is not an effort.
    7. It has programs for browning, frying, steaming, slow cooker, baby food, rice, pressure cooking. The only dish we tried that we didn't like at all was rice. By far, my traditionally made rice comes out much fluffier and airier. Otherwise, I have no objection.
    8. Cooked meat is in the category of cooked food. For example, when I make chicken legs, I put them under high pressure for 30 minutes, but then I put them in the oven for 10 minutes for browning.
    9. The lid locks when the temperature inside is very high and unlocks only after the pressure is removed which makes it very safe to use.
    10. Some programs are used with the lid open, such as browning, but if we apply the logic that even in a normal cooking with the lid removed, brown the onion, for example, then the whole cooking process at One Pot becomes much easier.
    11. After cooking, it is automatically switched to the warm-up program so that mothers can have hot food on the table when they return with their children from the city.

Some recipes that turned out delicious at One Pot in Tefal:

Mix with a wooden spoon, set cooking under medium pressure for 9 minutes.

At the end, mix and serve.

    2. Pork chop with beans

    • 1 raw pork chop
    • 1 or red beans (I use Bonduelle because it already has spices added, but any bean is good)
    • salt, pepper, white / red onion

Put the pork chop in the One Pot with the spices, onions and hot water to cook under high pressure for 30 minutes. We put it in the steaming basket so that no water enters it, that's how we like it. It's very good if you boil it directly in liquid.

Remove, cut the skin, but without cutting the meat and put in the oven for 30 minutes, the grill function. Remove when the rind turns copper.

During this time, put aside the water in which the ciolan was boiled and put the beans in the One Pot pot with the water from the box (if it's Bonduelle). If it is another type of bean, drain the water and add the water in which the ciolan boiled. Add spices such as bay leaves, salt if needed, pepper, cook over medium pressure, 5 minutes and close.

Serve hot and lick your fingers!

    3. Fish with vegetables

Season the fish with salt, lemon, garlic and place in a pot. If the fish are too big, you can cut off their head and tail. Put warm water over them or white wine. Place the grill (comes with the pot) in which to put the vegetables, cook, medium pressure, 10 minutes.

The device also comes with its cookbook, but it didn't inspire me so much, I rather look at the times used for certain meats but it doesn't always apply in my reality. I'd rather test temperatures and minutes on our regular menu than invent new things from a book with very little known recipes.

In conclusion, you need time to get used to it, but once you understand it, it will be difficult for you to give it up. For me it has become a breath of fresh air when I am either away from home and I need to cook, or I have so much work at home that I do not have time to keep an eye on the pot of food.
